Young musicians often find themselves enamored with the music of legendary artists; in some cases, they learn to play that music; on even rarer occasions they get to share a stage with those legends! CONNOR KENNEDY, a guitarist and vocalist from upstate NY who is impressing the old pros as well as his own generation, is one of those young musicians who's talent & dedication has led him to do all three. Those who saw Kennedy here in January with his Pink Floyd-inspired band, RETHINK PINK, know the level of talent we're talking about and why we're so excited. Citing influences spanning from classic electric blues guitarists of the '50s and '60s like Freddie King and Hubert Sumlin; deep-cut soul singers of the '70s (Teddy Pendergrass and Donny Hathaway); and songwriters Lowell George, Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter -- Connor Kennedy has been enthusing audiences throughout the Northeast region with his hard hitting, heavy jamming, bone fide blend of soul-injected down-home roots music. He's sharing stages with the likes of Larry Campbell (Levon Helm Band, Phil Lesh & Friends), Garth Hudson (of The Band), world-renowned jazz pianist Brad Mehldau, and most frequently, Bruce Katz, Scott Sharrard, and Jay Collins of the Gregg Allman Band. This year, at age 17, Kennedy was featured in the January 2012 issue of Hudson Valley Magazine as one of their "People to Watch," praising his steady progress in becoming one of the area's most respected musicians while he's still in his teenage years.

This New Year's Eve will be the Towne Crier's 40th, so come out and join us for this exciting milestone celebration! Returning to light up our New Year's Eve Celebration, as she has many times before, blues guitarist/singer extrordinare Debbie Davies first gained widespread notice during her three years with the late Albert Collins' band, The Icebreakers. Her roles included solo & rhythm guitar, vocalist and guitar "duelist" with Collins, who called her "a great guitar player who sure can play the blues." She has also worked with blues icons like B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Koko Taylor and John Mayall (who gave her a rare and unequivocal endorsement). Several years ago, LEVON HELM was turned on to Chris O'Leary'sblues harp playing, which led to Levon joining in on some of Chris's early recording sessions and then sitting in on his band's regular gigs. Soon, Chris relocated to New Orleans, where he spent the better part of a year as a focal point of Levon Helm's Barn Burners, backing up touring stars and opening for New Orleans' finest players. Since then, O'Leary formed a new band, including fellow Barn Burner Frankie Ingrao on bass, with which he has impressed us every time he's played at the TCC – including his high-energy performance on New Year's Eve last year.

At a young age, SHEMEKIA COPELAND is already a force to be reckoned with in the blues. While still in her 20s, she’s opened for the Rolling Stones, headlined at the Chicago Blues Festival and numerous festivals around the world, scored critics choice awards on both sides of the Atlantic (The New York Times and The Times of London) and shared the stage with such luminaries as Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Taj Mahal and John Mayer. Heir to the rich tradition of soul-drenched divas like Ruth Brown, Etta James and Koko Taylor, Copeland’s shot at the eventual title of Queen of the Blues is pretty clear. By some standards, she may already be there.
Legendary slide-guitarist SONNY LANDRETH has been working steadily for decades, amassing a devoted following among his fans and peers. Eric Clapton said he is “probably the most underestimated musician on the planet and also probably one of the most advanced.†Indeed, as Landreth’s way of playing is unmistakably his own – his method combines the bottleneck slide, palm and finger-picking techniques that produce a sound that is often said to resemble many instruments playing at once.

Manhattan Transfer Headline!!!
--------------------
Kristina Train's powerful voice is leaving audiences amazed. Often compared to the likes of Allison Krauss, Dusty Springfield, and Bonnie Raitt, the Savannah, Georgia native is making a name for herself with deep, expressive vocals and fiddle in hand. Her soulful singing complements her catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Drawing inspiration from her idol, Aretha Franklin, Train's bluesy vibrato alternates between gentle ballads and powerful belting as she sings with mature intensity and an awareness of her southern roots.
--------------------
Mato Nanji’s always provided the heartbeat of the band Indigenous — along with the warm dusty voice and the soaring, spirited guitar fireworks that have earned the group from South Dakota’s Nakota Nation a place among roots rock’s elite. But with the emotionally charged and musically visceral Broken Lands, the band’s second album on Vanguard Records, Nanji makes a transformation from sparkplug to visionary.

"Our community has lost our hometown hero and an incredible person.
William "Bill" Sanford Perry passed away on the evening of Tuesday, July17, 2007. Bill Perry was one of the most talented musicians that has ever graced our stage (Bodles) and many others across the globe; he was humble, never forgetting where he came from and who his friends were and he was always a man of honor and a gentleman. He will be missed here in Chester, New York and the world.
At this time the evening will be hosted by fellow blues guitarist and friend, Jimmy Vivino (Conan O'Brian Show) and many, many others including Levon Helm, Little Sammy Davis and so many of the region's finest musicians contributing their talents. Bill's band current and past members will all be on hand as well, as well as some of his very dedicated "disciples". Bill Perry was extremely popular and this very special tribute in his hometown will be sold-out. Reservations will only be available at Bodles (no online ticketing) and must be secured in advance to guarantee space. A $25 donation is suggested, the monies will be used to pay for band and family related expenses.
All of us at Bodles are honored to be able to participate and give back to the man who gave so much to us."

OPENING FOR THE NEVILLE BROTHERS: New Orleans' first family of funk, rock, reggae and soul returns to Humphrey's for their 10th spirited performance. From the haunting strains of Aaron singing "Tell It Like It Is" to the brotherly gumbo of "Iko Iko" and "Hey Pocky Way," The Neville Brothers are the premier architects of the New Orleans sound. Special guest Shemekia Copeland brings her gospel-inflected, blues-belting dynamism to Humphrey’s for the third time. It does get much more riveting than when she dispenses with her microphone during "Ghetto Child" and still easily reaches the rear of the venue with the sheer power of her voice.
